Are there any personal recommendations for getting good wearing kit?
Local island resources? Reliable intraweb resources?
I've heard people talking about Ed making weapons and Luke making leather, but both being so far queued up with orders...
- - - -
Taking a different tack -
Considering the Scum and Scurvy show on 25th to 27th September...
If I progress at an average* rate, and manage to attend all four fight club in between... what level would I expect to be?
Would I be proficient in order to be a combatant, or would that be too soon? I appreciate that if I am profficient and can join in, that my melee skills aren't exactly going to be winning any duels after only five weeks training - I don't expect miracles
If it's quite likely that I _won't_ be proficcient to carry and use re-enactment weapons - that's one half of the kit less to worry about buying/borrowing, and I can concentrate on costume and bringing some of my LARP kit instead.
* - yeah I know. "average" - how long is a piece of string and all that,

Hi all, River rogues are putting on our first event and would like to invte members of the wight pirates. It's along the lines of Lulworth, we will have a LH camp a Skirmish militia etc from other groups have said they will turn up, we have a boat to use for pirates, with a walk the plank competition for the public, just for one day in aid of Multiple Sclerosis. The event is on 25th July 2009 at the Swan in Radcot Oxfordshire. The pub is right alongside the river and we can camp on their island. WE will be there on Friday 24th to set up and have an evening by the camp fire etc. You can google the pub and look at a satelite map of the area. If you would like more info, we have a facebook page "river rogues" just ask to join and we will accept asap or email Dualer at le.ma@hotmail.co.uk.

It was from Bowstock Ltd (http://www.bowstock.co.uk/) from a re-enactment fayre. They supply leather working tools and materials - they have some useful, big and flashy buckles (http://www.bowstock.co.uk/acatalog/Buckles___Fittings.html) - but they don't do many finished goods (some bags, pouches and flasks - http://www.bowstock.co.uk/reenact.html - though). My baldric as one of a small batch they made by request as a possible future line but they apparently didn't make any more :-( I like it as it's simple and unflashy.

Right! We need to get insured by May I've got a quote from one company of £300-340 for 15 reenactors (£20-23 each then) but this is number dependant so... If you are definitely in we to know as we will have to fix numbers at the right level, then we need at least £15 asap. I am still shopping around for quotes but this may be our best.

So hi, thought I'd get the ball rolling on here. Been thinking alot about my character for this one, there seems to be alot of room for imagination here, so I'm kind of running away with it a bit, thought it might be an idea to run it by the rest of you incase I'm going too far.
I'm thinking along the lines of an Assassin from whatever Israel was called at the time. I'm going to have to do a little research before I come up with the back story, but anyone that has played Assassin's Creed will know straight away where I've got my inspiration from, think of a cross between him and Prince of Persia.
WIll post some costume designs when I've had a chance to do one a little less crude.
